The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reiterated the government’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of workers, emphasizing that “the well-being of Nigerian workers is a paramount concern.”
Wike conveyed this message on Wednesday in Abuja during the 2024 May Day celebration.
Speaking through the Head of Service of the FCT, Atang Udo Samuel, the Minister underscored the current administration’s acknowledgment of the indispensable role workers play in the nation’s progress. He affirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding their rights and interests.

“We are dedicated to fostering a favorable work atmosphere, enhancing working conditions, and elevating the overall well-being of all FCT workers,” affirmed Wike.
In alignment with this commitment, the Minister elaborated that the government has established the FCT Civil Service Commission. This entity aims to uphold transparency, accountability, and career advancement for FCT administration workers.
Wike emphasized, “The commission will play a pivotal role in ensuring the rights of workers are upheld, and their diligent efforts are duly recognized with avenues for progression and development.”
He highlighted the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission as a significant stride in the government’s endeavor to reform the civil service and uphold workers’ rights.
With this initiative, Wike assured that workers in the FCT can anticipate improved working conditions, enhanced career opportunities, and a more supportive work environment.
