Jude Oguejiofor, a 2023 House of Representatives aspirant from Anambra State, has been killed by gunmen.
He was from Orsumoghu in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra, but resided in Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
He ran for the Ihiala Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 polls on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He and his brother, an overseas-based medical doctor, were kidnapped by some gunmen around 1 am, a few days ago, in Orsumoghu Community, where they had visited their elderly parents.
The gunmen later freed his brother unharmed.
A family insider, who preferred anonymity, said that the gunmen blamed Oguejiofor for petitioning them and their activities to the Anambra State Government.
They said he had been petitioning them to the Anambra State Government,” the insider said.
The Anambra State Police command had not issued any official statement on the matter as of the time of this report, but a police officer, who spoke off the record, verified the incident.
